The Write Group:

is a support group for all writers, whether published yet or not. It's free and it's friendly. There are three main activities and several occasional ones. Unless otherwise noted all sessions take place in the Conference Room of the Montclair Public Library, S. Fullerton Ave, Montclair, NJ, USA.

Support Group meetings on Tuesdays. Come Tuesdays at 10:00-11am for mutual support & great discussions! The founding purpose of The Write Group is to encourage each other to keep writing. How better to do that than discuss the issues that hinder our writing, the techniques we've learned to keep us going; to share the successes and the disappointments. Who said writing has to be lonely?

Thursday’s two Critique Workshops at 10am-12 & at 7-9pm - Bring work for critique even if you only have a draft or work-in-progress, or come just to critique. Pieces should take up to about ten minutes to read. Positive feedback is assured, but so is helpful discussion of things that might be improved.

"Free Write" Workshop, Saturdays, 10am-12 – Creatively write to provocative prompts. Sounds simple doesn't it? It's a great technique for breaking through The Block.

An informal evening of... who knows what! Great entertainment and good writing. Each author is limited to an eight minute slot, but not limited in their imaginations.

“Writer’s Book Club”: as announced. Mission statement: "Our focus will be on analyzing in depth an author's writing techniques, with a view towards improving our own." We’re not going to be just another book club: those participating MUST read the book, since we'll be discussing the author’s writing techniques to see what we can learn and what we can emulate in our own writing.

“Memoir & Muffin sub-group”: Discussing markets for memoirs, and brainstorming groupings of people that might want to buy them. Critique readings of short pieces from our draft memoirs. Contact Ethel Lee Miller at a Tuesday support group for more information.
